Local Repeaters Q&A - Cool Beans - Digital Doorway - News & Info - Facebook KE8HCGDigital DoorwayDMRWe will be adding links to information about digital modes here. We will be starting with DMR. DMR is an electronic format that allows two conversations in the bandwidth of a single conversation. The technique is called Time Division Multiple access or TDMA. A favorite new radio for DMR is the MD-380. It started to make waves when Travis Goodspeed presented a talk at Shmoocon on how to hack the firmware. He has since added features to his experimental firmware that allow things such as DMR scanning. Here is a tutorial put together by Lady Ada of adafruit.com on using the tools Travis Goodspeed created and how to compile the firmware. It might be a little technical for the average person so here is a link to up to date precompiled firmware. You will need the official firmware update tool and a programming cable to perform the update. You can find the software here.
